Aitareya Brahmana
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Aitareya Brahmana (AB, rarely also known as Ashvalayana Brahmana) is a ritualistic Vedic text in Vedic Sanskrit language. This Brahmana is associated with the Rigveda in the Shakala shakha.
It is believed to have been composed around 600 BC.[citation needed] It deals principally with the explanation of Mantras and ritual action occurring in Soma sacrifices. Sections (pancaka) 1-5 are older than sections 6-8. The first five were composed in the western part of North India, the last 3 in the east (Audh, Bihar).[citation needed]
