Petrarch's tomb in Arquà Petrarca.

It is the place where the poet Petrarch (Francesco Petrarca) lived the final part of his life and died, whence the town's name. Francesco Petrarca died and was buried here in 1374 CE.

In 2004, celebrations were held there and in nearby Padua for the 700th anniversary of the poet's birth.

The house where Francesco Petrarca lived in Arquà is now a museum dedicated to the poet.

The town has a medieval aspect. It is set in a picturesque location on the slopes of Monte Ventolone and Monte Calbarina, part of the Euganean Hills.

Local produce include olives, extra virgin olive oil, honey, chestnuts, ziziphus.
