Atlantis Word Processor is a stand-alone word processor for Microsoft Windows developed by Rising Sun Solutions, Inc. It was previously known as "Atlantis Ocean Mind".
Atlantis runs on all Windows versions, starting from Windows 95. The user interface of Atlantis Word Processor is very similar to the interface of Microsoft Word (pre-Office 2007).
Atlantis Word Processor is currently available in two languages - English and French. However it can spellcheck texts in 12 languages.

Atlantis has most features offered by the modern word processors like Microsoft Word. The standard features of Atlantis Word Processor include bookmarks and hyperlinks, sections, newspaper columns, headers and footers, footnotes and endnotes, fields, styles, as well as bulleted, numbered, and outline lists.
The present version of Atlantis Word Processor lacks some important features like collaboration and table support. It also does not support text wrapping around pictures.
[edit] Security and safety
Atlantis allows the user to secure documents with 256-bit encryption. Encrypted documents are saved to a proprietary COD format of Atlantis Word Processor unsupported by other word processors.
Atlantis has a Backup Files feature. When this feature is enabled, Atlantis creates automatic and regular backups of all open documents. Successive versions of each document are saved to a special folder. This is so that earlier versions of the documents can be accessible, especially in the case that a past mistake was made before the document was most recently saved.

Atlantis Word Processor has a number of features meant for writers. The Overused Words[1] feature can help writers avoid repetitions and clichés. The "Save as eBook" feature of Atlantis allows to convert any document to an eBook[2]. Atlantis also provides writers with information about writing time and speed[3]. Finally, Atlantis can be used to print booklets (including pocket-size booklets)[4].
Another extra feature is Power Type[5], a word completion feature that collects statistical information about one's word usage and then tries to predict the most likely ending of a word the user has begun typing. It can also be used to automatically type collocations and sentence fragments.

Atlantis Word Processor can both export and import documents in the following formats: MS Word 6.0/95 (DOC), MS Word 97-2003 (DOC), Office Open XML (DOCX), Rich Text Format (RTF) and Plain text documents (TXT). Atlantis Word Processor also has its proprietary document format (COD) for encrypted documents. No support for the OpenDocument (ODT) format yet.

Atlantis Word Processor is distributed as try-before-you-buy software. There is also a free version of Atlantis Word Processor with less features called Atlantis Nova.
