First Lady of Paraguay

First Lady of Paraguay (officially in Spanish Primera Dama de la Nación) is the official post of the spouse (or designated person) of the President of Paraguay. The official workplace of the Paraguayan First Lady is Mburuvichá Róga.

According to Paraguayan law, the Office of the First Lady of the Nation depends structurally and financially on the Presidency of the Republic. The First Lady exercises its duties through the REPADEH (Red Paraguaya para el Desarrollo Humano) Foundation, focused mainly in social and health affairs.
The current First Lady is Mercedes Lugo de Maidana, sister of President Fernando Lugo, designated First Lady[1], since Lugo, a laicized Roman Catholic priest, has no spouse.

On April 13, 2009 -- five days after lawyers for Viviana Carrillo announced they were filing a paternity suit against him -- Lugo admitted he is the father of a child conceived with Ms. Carrillo, age 26, while he was still a Roman Catholic bishop. Ms. Carrillo's lawyer says the boy was born on May 4, 2007. Pope Benedict XVI did not relieve Lugo from his vows of chastity until July 31, 2008.[2][3]
A second woman later came forward in Paraguay alleging that President Fernando Lugo fathered one of her children when he was serving as a Catholic bishop. [4] Other Paraguayan bishops were reportedly informed of such allegations in 2004, but did not make them public at the time. [5] A third woman third also claimed President Lugo is the father of her child — this one a 16-month-old boy she named after late Pope John Paul II. [6]
