Here are some tasks you can do:
  • Merge:
    • Decide on article's future

[edit] Merge

This isn't a massive topic, perhaps we should just merge them into one article instead? Regarding the name, perhaps they could both go to Personal and social grooming instead? Richard001 03:30, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Merge I'd vote for "Social grooming" as the title of the merged article. 24.107.194.216 03:54, 26 January 2007 (UTC) (I'll never remember that IP address is me. I should have logged on.)
  • Don't Merge personal grooming refers to grooming oneself; social grooming refers to grooming another. Also, personal grooming is more a human related term, while social grooming is a term most commonly used by zoologists in reference to non-human animals. Either keep separate or merge both into the grooming article. VanTucky 07:23, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
They are both grooming though, and neither subject warrants much more than a stubbish article. Personal and social grooming occur in both human and non-human animals. The only reason I didn't suggest merging into grooming is that it's a disambig. Perhaps we could move it there and make a different page for a disambiguation. Richard001 00:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Don't Merge I agree with VanTucky - personal grooming refers to human self-grooming. The function it serves is completely different from the purpose of social grooming. Social grooming refers to one individual grooming or receiving grooming from another. (Gorilla227 16:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)gorilla227)
  • We could also split it into animal hygiene, including both forms, and leave the rest for hygiene. Yet another option is cleaning behavior, the term used by Encyclopedia Britannica (they use grooming as a synonym, by the way). Richard001 03:44, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
