Tathamangalam is a small village in Palakkad District of Kerala, south India. Tattamangalam has a society which consists of people of all religions and people speaking mainly two languages Tamil and Malayalam. Tattamangalam is a part of Chittur-Tattamangalam Municipality and this place was a part of princely State of Cochin before India got independence from the British. Majority of the inhabitants of this village speaks Tamil. Others use Malayalam as their main language .
The place is located at a distance of about 15 km towards south from Palakkad district head quarters. The Tattamangalam-Chittur municipality is situated in the banks of river Sokanashini or commonly called as Chittur Puzha

As of 2001[update] India census, Thathamangalam had a population of 7167 with 3598 males and 3569 females.[1]

In 917 A.D. a large Gang of (Kongu) army consisting chiefly of cavalry invaded the territory of the Palghat Raja, but was driven back with great slaughter by Maharaja of Cochin, assisted by the Zamorin and the Rajas of Palghat and Walluvanad. For this service and to enable better protection, the Palghat Raja ceded to Cochin the territories known as Naludesam and Kodakaranad, which constitute the present Taluk of Chittur. Naludesam comprised the four adjoining “Desams”, Chittur, Nalleppilly, Tattamangalam, and Pattancherri.

Tattamangalam is a part of Chittur Constituency of Kerala Legislative Assembly and a part of Palakkad Constituency of the Loksabha

All major political parties of Kerala including Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Indian national Congress are active here.

This area is famous all along Kerala as it is the largest producer of Toddy ( the sweet sap from any of several tropical trees like Palm and coconut trees fermented to make an alcoholic drink ) in the state. Everyday 100s of Trucks transport fresh toddy to all other parts of Kerala state especially to the southern Kerala
Tattamangalam is a major cloth making center (ready made clothes) of Kerala. As it is very close to Coimbatore, major Textile shops depends on the workers of Tattamangalam to get the goods delivered on time. As a results a very large number of the people's livelihood is tailoring
