Usage

This template {{Football}} adds articles to one or more subcategories of Category:WikiProject Football articles and is a self-reference. Please add to relevant articles' talk pages.

This template should be transcluded as {{Football}} and not substituted {{subst:}} because it employs conditional code. Transclusion also allows easy updating of all the Project's talk pages without having to edit thousands of pages. For examples of how the template will appear under various parameter scenarios, please see Template:Football/Examples.

While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has optional class parameters that add extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

Parameters legend

  • class: FA, FL, A, GA, B, C, Start, Stub, List, NA, Template, and Cat. If blank (#default), this will default as unassessed and list the article at Category:Unassessed football articles. NA is "non article", such as for categories (use Cat), disambiguous pages (use NA), images (use NA), portals (use NA), redirects (use NA), and templates (use Template). Descriptions of some of the options can be found at WikiProject Football/Quality scale.
  • importance: Top, High, Mid, and Low. If blank, this will default as unknown importance. Descriptions of the options can be found at WikiProject Football/Importance scale.
  • Argentina: Answer yes for articles relating to Argentine football. They then will come to the attention of the Argentina football task force.
  • Canada: Answer yes for articles relating to Canadian football(soccer). They then will come to the attention of the USA and Canada football task force.
  • England: Answer yes for articles relating to England football. They then will come to the attention of the England football task force.
  • Germany: Answer yes for articles relating to German football. They then will come to the attention of the German football task force.
  • Iran: Answer yes for articles relating to Iran football. They then will come to the attention of the Iran football task force.
  • Irish: Answer yes for articles relating to Irish football. They then will come to the attention of the Irish football task force.
  • Italy: Answer yes for articles relating to Italian football. They then will come to the attention of the Italy football task force.
  • Liverpool: Answer yes for articles relating to Liverpool F.C. They then will come to the attention of the Liverpool football task force.
  • ManUtd: Answer yes for articles relating to Manchester United F.C. They then will come to the attention of the Manchester United task force.
  • Netherlands: Answer yes for articles relating to Dutch football. They then will come to the attention of the Netherlands football task force.
  • Spain: Answer yes for articles relating to Spanish football. They then will come to the attention of the Spanish football task force.
  • Taiwan: Answer yes for articles relating to Taiwanese football. They then will come to the attention of the Taiwanese football task force.
  • USA: Answer yes for articles relating to USA football(soccer). They then will come to the attention of the USA and Canada football task force.
  • Women: Answer yes for articles relating to Women's football. They then will come to the attention of the Women's football task force.
  • Variants: Answer yes for articles relating to variants of association football. They then will come to the attention of the Football variants task force.
  • needs-infobox: Answer yes if the template needs an appropriate infobox added.
  • small: Answer yes if the template needs to be smaller and lined up vertically on the side of the talk page.

Notes

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template. A common initial configuration for the template includes the following basic parameters:
